Meribel
Meribel is set right in the centre of the famous "Three Valleys" ski area which is renowned as one of the largest in the world. The village of Meribel (1450 m) is charming with lots of character. Meribel Mottaret (1800 m) is the satellite village above, built in the same Alpine style, and has a separate selection of shops and restaurants. Meribel Les Allues (1100 m) is 5 km below the village and is connected by cable car.
The "Three Valleys" ski area has over 600 kms of ski piste. 2 cable cars, 25 cable cabins, 46 chair lifts, 111 drag lifts. Best suited to intermediates and advanced skiers.
Courchevel may be more chic and Val Thorens may have better snow but with Méribel it's all about location, location, location. Without its adjoining neighbours, the ski area is less impressive, but its position means that you can access the tops of the other resorts almost as quick as they can get there themselves.
The chalet style is a perfect example of how a resort should be purpose-built and the piste layout is similarly well conceived, groomed and constantly improved with 60 lifts and 600 snow guns in the Méribel valley alone.
Large ski school with English speaking ski instructors. 110 kms of cross country skiing. Ice skating, swimming pool, hang gliding.
In Meribel village: ice rink, heated swimming pool, squash, gym, sauna, steam bath, massage. Good selection of shops, restaurants, discos, & cinemas. Geneva is approx 136 km. away.

Hotel Le Mottaret 3***
The Hotel Le Mottaret is well situated next to the pistes in a quiet area close to all major conveniences. The majority of the hotel's 42 rooms come with a balcony and are all well equipped with a bath or shower and a toilet, telephone and satellite television. The newly redecorated superior rooms come with a rustic decor, TV and video, and a marble bathroom with Balneo Bath.
The hotel has its own restaurant (M1) where guests can enjoy a large buffet breakfast and a 5-course evening meal with choice of dishes as well as “afternoon tea” with a choice of cakes and pastries. It also offers its guests a private gym with sauna, ski lockers and covered parking.
