     Alpe-d'Huez is one of France's best all-round resorts, with top-quality skiing for all and fine non-skiing facilities. It has some great tough runs (on and off piste) amid spectacular, high mountain scenery - with glacier skiing from 3300m. Lower down it has extensive intermediate and beginner terrain too.

    The Dauphin of the Oisans Valley a nudge east of Grenoble, Alpe d'Huez is a purpose-built sprawling village set on a wide open flank of mainly south-facing mountainside. An ugly duckling hastily constructed for the 1968 Grenoble Olympics, it may yet turn into a swan as efforts are being made to reclad the amorphous buildings in sympathetic timber, and attractive chalet suburbs are being created on different flanks of the mountain.

     In good conditions, there are few places to rival Alpe-d'Huez for the extent and variety of the skiing. With a modern efficient lift system, high altitude slopes mostly facing the sun, well maintained pistes with extensive snowmaking, good rustic mountain restaurants and accommodation very close to the slopes, put Alpe-d'Huez on your short list.

Hôtel Le Royal Ours Blanc   4****

    The Royal Ours Blanc Hotel is a luxury hotel situated in the heart of Alpe d’Huez and only 100 m from the slopes. All of the rooms have spectacular views from the balcony across the Oisans mountains and are well equipped. The superior rooms were refurnished in 2000. The superior luxury category rooms, renovated for December 2002, with luxurious furnishings, marble bathrooms with Balneo Bath, offer higher level of comfort. Guests can relax in luxury at the sauna, Turkish bath, exercise room, swimming pool or enjoy a massage* or hydro-massage* (*with supplement). The restaurant offers traditional French and international cuisine with half-board consisting of a large buffet breakfast and a 5-course evening meal with choice of dishes.

Chalet Sapins ***

    These beautiful detached chalets are located at the entrance of the resort. Ski lift and slopes are 200m from the chalets.

The chalet is well decorated and has a living room with TV, sitting area and dining area. The kitchen has an electric stove, oven, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and washing machine. There is a ski locker and an exterior parking place for two cars. Sauna available.

    There are 7 twin bedrooms, each with ensuite bathrooms with shower and toilet. Ideal for an extended family or small group.

Chalet Altiport 4****

    Accommodating from 10 to 16 people, these luxury condo's are approximately 500m away from the shops and restaurants, constructed in wood and stone, and offer SKI IN/SKI OUT access to the slopes.

   Spacious and beautifully decorated (with wooden floors and tiling), these chalets have both terraces and balconies, a living room with traditional log fireplace, satellite TV, fully equipped kitchen with dish-washer, ceramic hobs, traditional oven and microwave, refrigator, ski room with electric shoe dryer, a Balneo Bath and private parking.
