Day 2: St Maria - Müstair
Hike: 3h30
We walk directly from Hotel Central in Valchava somewhat above the valley in the direction of St. Maria and Müstair. On this raised path we have constant fascinating views of the lower part of the Val Müstair and the Alps and mountains above it. After a visit to a farm, our walk takes us right along a dashing waterfall and back down to the valley floor and Müstair. We learn a great deal on a tour through the famous monastery of St. Johann and the museum. There is some time left for a wander through Müstair before we head back to Valchava with the post van.

Day 3: Beautiful alpine walk and visit to the old ore mines

Hike: 4h00
We take the post van up to the Ofen Pass and walk up a slight incline in the direction of «Il Jalet». An almost level path leads us in a wide bend beneath the Piz Daint to the alpine region of Juf Plaun and on to the «Minieras», the old mines where ore was extracted in an exhausting process. Anyone who wishes can enter the mine with a knowledgeable, local guide. Helmets and headlamps are provided. After a relaxing lunchtime break we continue on to Alp Buffalora and back onto the Ofen Pass «Süsom Givé».

Day 4: Val Vau - Sta. Maria |
Hike: 4h00
We walk directly from Valchava into the romantic tributary valley of Val Vau, on rambling paths and unmade tracks up to around 1800m above sea level. On the way we enjoy a special type of lunch, before we continue on our way to Sta. Maria by foot. In Sta. Maria we visit a beekeeper and learn about the Müstairer bees and how the sweet Val-Müstairer honey is made.
Day 5: Umbrail - Stelvio

Hike: 2h30
The post van brings us to the height of the Umbrail Pass, where the Swiss tollhouse stands. Once here, we take to an old pack trail and walk the serpentine route to the Dreisprachenspitze, with its imposing views of the Ortler region and the fascinating Italian Stelvio national park. In Rifugio Garibaldi we enjoy a typical lunch at over 2800 metres in a small Italian family-run restaurant. In Sta. Maria we visit the «Tessenda», a hand weaving establishment that weaves traditional patterns and modern designs.
Day 6: Senda Val Müstair
Hike: 3h30
Our walk today starts in «Lü», the highest political district in Europe. We follow the «Senda Val Müstair» path to the Alp Campatsch and farther on up, high above the valley floor to the region where the famous bear left its tracks. We enjoy the magnificent alpine flora, the Swiss stone pines that flourish in this region, and delight at the splendid views down into the valley. In the evening there is an opportunity to visit the valley museum «Chasa Jaura» in Valchava.
