8 day Escorted Tour
South of the Alps at the foot of the mighty Dolomites you walk through the most beautiful part of South Tyrol. In the core of the country between Brixen (Bressanone), the cultural capital of Tyrol and Bolzano, capital of South Tyrol, continental and Mediterranean cultures meet. The first part of the hiking tour follows so called “Keschtn”trail (sweet chestnut trail). Fine food and breathtaking panoramas combine to a singular holiday experience.

DAY TO DAY ITINERARY

Day 1: Individual arrival at Brixen / Bressanone
|

Enjoy a stroll in the pergolas; visit the White Dome and Bishops Residence. Not to forget monastery Neustift known for the excellent Sylvane wine. In the evening a welcome meeting and introduction of the tour.

Day 2: Brixen (Bressanone) - Klausen (5h00)
|
|
Leave Brixen/Bressanone and walk up Mountain Pfeffersberg. You walk on beautiful terraces past little hamlets and farms – always in view of the mighty Dolomites towering high above you. You reach Feldthurns and monastery Säben, South Tyrol’s Acropolis, and the Albrecht Dürer town of Klausen.

Day 3: Klausen - Barbian - Bolzano (5h00)

Short transfer to Barbian, where the tour to Bolzano begins. A marvellous countryside above Eisack valley is Ritten, a popular holiday resort of Bolzano’s jet set. Again and again you will stop and drink in the stunning view of Dolomites, first the Schlern Massif. Past picturesque earthen pyramids you enjoy a ride with Rittner train, which brings you to Bolzano. In the evening a stroll through this truly European city reveals a peaceful meeting of Italian and Austrian culture.

| Day 4: Bolzano - Lake Kaltern - Bolzano (4h00) |

You walk to the famous vineyards around Kaltern and will pass the well known lakes of Kaltern and Montiggler. Castles, churches, farm houses are everywhere and worth visiting.

Day 5: Bolzano - Völs - Seiser Alm (Alpine pasture) (5h00-6h00)
|

With the bus you will go to Völs where you start your walking tour to the famous Seiser Alm. A wonderful trail close to the Schlern Massiv with wide views to the Dolomites.

Day 6: Seiser Alm - Grödner Valley (5h00)
|
|
On a lower altitude we will walk into the well known valley of wood carvers – Grödner valley, at the foot of imposing Mt. Langkofel. 5 hours walking time.

Day 7: Grödner Valley to Brixen (Bressanone) (5h00)
|
|
Leaving Grödner Valley on the old postal trail and reaching Klausen in the north. Again stunning views to the mountain ranges in South Tyrol. The last stage to Brixen/Bressanone is covered by train.

Day 8: Individual departure or extension of stay
|
|
After breakfast your tour comes to an end, and you may begin your journey home. We would also be more than happy to extend your stay in Europe.

MODERATE TO INTERMEDIATE: Routes of medium difficulty on good trails and paths through a hilly and mountainous terrain. A good fitness level is required as you walk distances up to 16 km and 6 hours duration. Adequate hiking gear is required.
