Golf in Collingwood

A new golf hub is emerging on Georgian Bay's south shore where the Collingwood area is fast becoming one of Ontario's premier regional golf destinations. This spectacular stretch of the Lake Huron shoreline is home to more than twenty golf courses, Horseshoe Resort and Cranberry Golf Resort.

This Stephen Young designed course is built with all golfers in mind, with the risk/reward concept of golf applicable to the entire course. Five sets of tees on every hole allows the low handicap player to bring certain hazards into play to present more of a challenge, while the high handicap player can play at a level comfortable to him or her.

With over 50 acres of Bent Grass fairways, the membership loves the challenge of planning their shots for the best approach to the green. In some cases, with wide landing areas, the middle is not always the best shot. The oversized greens allow for numerous choices of ball placement.

Blue Mountain Golf and Country Club

Blue Mountain Golf

The Blue Mountain Golf & Country Club is an 18 hole semi-private facility located on Collingwood’s 10th Line between Sixth Street and Mountain Road. Developed in 1965, it is the longest established course in the area.

The natural beauty of the Niagara Escarpment acts as a picturesque backdrop to the course’s well maintained tees, fairways, greens and gardens. This excellent walking course is designed with both the 9th and 18th holes returning to the Clubhouse.

The Blue Mountain Golf and Country Club is well respected by the Golf Association of Ontario. The Club has been a past host of the Ontario Junior Ladies Championship, Ontario Senior Ladies Championship and numerous Amateur Qualifying events.

Duntroon Highlands Golf Course

Duntroon Highlands Golf Course

Owned and operated by the Sampson Family, Duntroon Highlands Golf Club on land that was once part of the old Sampson farm. The course occupies an excellent vantage point atop the southwest end of Blue Mountain and affords wonderful views of the Central Ontario landscape and beautiful Georgian Bay. Since it first opened in 1986, the course has drawn an increasing number of golfers each year to become one of the most popular golf courses in the Georgian Bay area.

Monterra Golf

Monterra golf

Challenge yourself with a round at one of Ontario’s most popular resort courses — Monterra Golf. Designed in 1989 by Tom McBroom, Monterra has proven to be a formidable challenge for golfers from North America and abroad. A traditional links course, Monterra features rolling bent grass fairways, razorback mounding and 86 bunkers, as well as ravines, creeks, seven lakes, and some spectacular elevated tee shots. In addition to the championship course, Monterra offers a full-service golf shop, deli and bar, a practice area and an on-course sanctuary at the 5th and 10th tees.

Club de golf La Canada is the first municipal course on the Costa del Sol. Originally built for the workers and green keepers of Valderrama, which has the largest number of golfers in Spain, the La Canada golf course has turned out to be a pretty good course for itself and offers a nice round of golf for everyone.

The locals have the Glen for a favourite on the 9th hole. The course is designed with well groomed fairways and greens.
