A bike trip in Tuscany is a cyclist's dream trip, and you will learn this very quickly! Spend a week with us biking in the land of Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo. Experience the Renaissance treasures of Siena, Etruscan ruins, medieval walled villages, and magnificent views, all with a splash of Tuscany wine. DAY TO DAY ITINERARY

Day 1: Individual arrival in Montecatini Terme
|

Montecatini Terme is one of the most important health resorts of Italy. The healing properties of the water were known to the ancient Romans, and such luminaries as Giacomo Puccini and Giuseppe Verdi "took their waters" there. Apart from a visit of splendid “Terme Tettuccio” you can take the cable car up to historic town centre of Montecatini Alto. Enjoy a marvellous view of the entire valley “Val’di Nievole” and the summits of the Apennines. Sip a glass of wine on medieval “Piazza Giusti” and look forward to the coming days.

Day 2: Val di Nievole (40 km)

You start your first tour on beautiful paths that lead you through olive groves into the charming village of Serravalle. Enjoy the beautiful view into the valley after you have managed some short climbs. Afterwards you cycle downhill back to Montecatini Terme where you will pass the historic village of Montecatini Alto on your way.

Day 3: Monti Pisani & the Sea (50 km)
|
|
Our transfer will bring you to the top of mountain Monte Pisano (900 m above sea level). You will have an impressive panorama towards Pisa and the sea while you are starting your tour with a long descent to the valley. Afterwards you cycle along a Latin viaduct to the Leaning Tower of Pisa and through the nature park “Macchia Lucchese” until you reach Viareggio. By train back to Montecatini Terme.

| Day 4: Florence by train |

The capital of Tuscany awaits you with its palaces, churches, museums and art treasures of the Renaissance. Of course if you wish you can relax in the hotel spa on this day too…

Day 5: San Gimignano (55 km)
|
|
Our transfer brings you to Casciana Terme. Your tour leads you through vineyards and on beautiful paths to San Gimignano. Enjoy the typical landscape of Tuscany. Before you reach your destination you can see the silhouette of the world famous medieval towers. By transfer back to your hotel.

Day 6: Vinci (55 km)
|

Explore Leonardo da Vinci's birthplace on this full day, round trip bike ride through the valleys and hills of Tuscany.

Day 7: Lucca (40 km)
|

The first town to pass today is little medieval wine-grower town Montecarlo. A name for wine connoisseurs deriving from Emperor Carl IV who stayed here sometimes. The excellent wine of Montecarlo was appreciated at many royal courts in Europe. Along the wine street “Colline Luccesi e Montecarlo” past Villa Torrigiani to Lucca. By train back to your hotel.

Day 8: Journey home or extension of stay
|
|
After breakfast your cycling tour comes to an end and you may begin your journey home. We would also be more than happy to extend your stay in Europe.

MODERATE: Tuscany has a dreamlike but also hilly landscape. The country roads and bicycle lanes are quiet however you sometimes have to make do with heavier traffic on entering or leaving a town.
A good level of fitness and cycling experience is required for this tour.

The nearest airports are Verona and Venice. Regular bus and train service is available from both airports to Verona city centre, where your tour starts.
