Spend your bicycle vacation in the most famous wine growing region of Germany, along one of its most beautiful rivers. Admire the "Kaiserthermen" (Emperor‘s hot springs) and the Porta Nigra in the Roman city of Trier. By bike you reach famous towns like Bernkastel Kues, Traben Tarbach, Cochem, Neumagen Dhron (the oldest German wine town) and Enkirch, a jewel of the medieval "Fachwerk" (Tudor style) architecture. In the evening you'll enjoy regional delicacies brought to you by select restaurants. And don‘t fail to taste the art of the local winemakers!

DAY TO DAY ITINERARY

Day 1: Individual arrival in Trier
|

Trier is a fascinating town and was once the capital of the Western Roman Empire. You can visit the Porta Nigra, the best preserved Roman city gates north of the Alps, or the basilica, the largest preserved ancient roofed structure. The thermal baths give visitors a good insight into the Roman bathing culture, and traffic has been crossing the Roman bridge since 1860. Your rental bike will be waiting for you in your hotel.

Day 2: Trier - Trittenheim (42 km)
|
|
Your first day of cycling will lead you out of Trier to the town of Schweich with its attractive ferry tower. From here on vineyards dominate the landscape until you reach your destination; Trittenheim. In Mehring there is an interesting Roman excavation site in the Villa Rustika, and at the Detzem sluice you will be able to see boats going through the locks and sluices.

Day 3: Trittenheim - Zeltingen (35 km)

Today you will cycle through Neumagen, the oldest winegrowing area of Germany, and on to Piesport with its interesting Roman winepress. Cycling through small winegrowing villages you will reach Bernkastel, which is famous for its medieval timber framed houses. Soon after you will reach your destination of Zeltingen with its pretty buildings in baroque style.

| Day 4: Zeltingen - Zell (36 km) |

Today’s tour leads you along the Mosel through Kröv with its famous wine producing region of "Kröver Nacktarsch", and on to Traben-Trarbach. This small town is a jewel in classical and Jugendstil style. The route then continues along the Zeller Hamm, a hill which the Mosel loops past and on to Zell, which has 4.5 million vines and is one of the largest winegrowing areas.

Day 5: Zell - Treis-Karden (47 km)

Cycling through small, well-kept villages you will reach Beilstein, which is so beautiful that 5 films have already been filmed there. The ruin of Metternich, which was once owned by the chancellor of the same name who was once one of the most powerful men in Europe, towers over the town. You will then cycle on to the holiday town of Cochem with its excellently restored old town and against the backdrop of the Coraidelstein ruin you will reach your destination.

Day 6: Treis-Karden - Koblenz (42 km)

Today you'll reach Koblenz cycling along the excellent cycling paths. But don’t forget to have a look at the oldest wooden framed house in Germany, the "Abteihof" from 1320 in Kobern-Gondorf! The "Deutsche Eck" (German corner) headland at the confluence of the Mosel and Rhine rivers and you should take the opportunity to visit the fortress of Ehrenbreitstein with its fantastic panoramic views.
Overnight stay in Koblenz.

Day 7: Individual Return Journay

After breakfast you may return to Trier (optional transfer available) or return home. We would be more than happy to extend your stay in Europe.
