8 day Independent OR Escorted tour
Frascati - the famous vineyard town outside Rome is the starting point of this cycle holiday. Rolling down through vineyards and following Via Appia Antika into the very centre of the eternal city and simply cycling to the many interesting sites of Rome. Colosseum, Spanish staircase and St. Peter's Dome - an unusual experience!
And after all the culture you cycle on scenic roads through the Alban Mountains and small villages before you reach the flat coastline. Here you pass by kilometres of fine sandy beaches, take a boat cruise to island of Ponza and enjoy the flair of picturesque little fishing villages while approaching sun-drenched Naples.
May be combined with our Florence to Rome tour.

Day 1: Individual arrival in Frascati

Frascati is a town approx. 20 km south of Rome in the Alban Mountains. Tour information meeting is about 7 pm at the hotel.
Day 2: Frascati - Rome - Frascati (30 km)

The first cycling day starts in a very relaxed way, just rolling downhill through the vineyards of Frascati to Rome. After a few kilometres you reach “Via Appia Antica” and cycle on this historic route, which is closed for motorised traffic, into the very centre of Rome. Here you may also use your bicycle because it is Sunday and the city centre is closed for motorised traffic too! Then a city tour in Rome, mostly by bike. Return journey by train to Frascati.
Day 3: Frascati - Sermoneta (55 km)

A short transfer (12 km) brings you directly to Castel Gandolfo, famous summer residence of the Pope. Mount your bicycles, cross lively towns Albano and Ariccia and then roll down the slopes of the Alban Mountains via Velletri to Cori. On the foot of Lepin hills you continue cycling in undulating regions through fertile vineyards to Sermoneta. Here a final climb of 160 m altitude brings you to your little hotel in the historic centre. City tour.
| Day 4: Sermoneta - Lido di Latina (40 km) |

Rush downhill in the morning and cycle an easy stage through flat fertile plains of Latina. In the early afternoon you reach kilometres of sandy beaches of Lido di Latina and the hotel, which is situated on the sea. Long walks on the beaches and a refreshing swim close the day.
Day 5: Lido di Latina - Terracina (50 km)
A whole day on idyllic, tranquil beach road! To your left National Park “Circeo” with it's unique lagoons is tempting for little detours, and on the right endless dunes with white sandy beaches stretch. Cycle along, take a break wherever you like and reach Terracina in the afternoon.
Day 6: Terracina - excursion to Pontinian island Ponza (20 km)

Early in the morning you sail to the Pontinian islands. After about 2.5 hrs cruise you reach the main island Ponza, where you disembark with your bicycles. Explore a pulsating little port and bizarre, volcanic coast. Only 8 km long and about 300 to 1800 m wide, but with some elevations! Explore the island before you return by boat to Terracina.
Day 7: Terracina - Formia - Naples (50 km)
There are another 20 km on the flat coast on to Sperlonga, which is a little fishing village with whitewashed houses. Beautiful alleys and staircases are leading you down to the sea. Then you turn into the country and enjoy a fantastic climb on Monte Cefalo and the stark beautiful mountain scenery to Itri. It is marvellous to see how fast the character of the countryside changes. The last 8 km are constantly downhill and in the early afternoon you reach the railway station of Formia to cover the last little distance into the centre of Naples by train. If you cycle guided there is a guided city tour in Naples.
