7 day Independent "single hotel based" tour

    Zillertal, Inntal and Achental between the Rofan and Karwendel mountains offer you extraordinary cycling adventures amongst superb nature.

    Enjoy the old traditions still alive in this region. You'll enjoy rustic farming villages, deep blue mountain lakes and lots of sights along the mostly flat cycle paths. Take a ride on old steam trains, plus the cablecars will bring you up to the mountaintops with panoramic views over the Alps. Each day you have a choice of lovely local cycling routes from your strategically placed hotel centre.


DAY TO DAY ITINERARY
Day 1: Individual arrival in Strass im Zillertal

   Individual arrival in the town of Strass at the entrance to the Ziller Valley, about one hour from Munich by car.

 

Day 2: Round trip Zillertal (40 km)

   After a ride with the light railway you cycle downhill through the valley along river Ziller. Sights along the way: alpine dairy in Holenzen, cheese dairy at Fügen.

 

Day 3: City of Innsbruck (48 km)

   Follow the green river Inn, cross the little village Schwaz (museum of silver mine) to Wattens. At Wattens experience the fantastic world of Swarowski crystal. Your eyes resting on the cliffy "Nordkette" of the Alps you  cycle  to the beautiful city of Innsbruck. On your way you might want to stop at Hall, famous for its salines. Stroll through Innsbruck until the train takes you back to Strass.

 

Day 4: Day of rest / Summer skiing

   Relax at your hotel and enjoy its facilities. Or would you like to try skiing? - the Tuxer Gletscher (glacier) awaits you.

 

Day 5: Achensee (45 km)

   Comfortable cycle tour along "Via Bavarica Tyrolensis" to the valley station of the light railway in Jenbach. Enjoy the fantastic view of the Tyrolean mountains on your ride with the worlds oldest cable car. At the plateau  The biggest lake in Tyrol offers lots of comfortable cycle tour options. You cycle downhill back to your hotel.

 

Day 6: Inntal Cycle Path (25 km)

   Cycle through gentle hilly landscape to the museum of tyrolean farms - enjoy an interesting trip through time. Strolling over the museums cemetry cometimes called  "Lustiger Friedhof" (funny cemetry) you will be astonished about the arrant inscriptions. Along the Inntal cycle path you return to Strass.

 

Day 7: Departure day

Landgasthof Post, 3+ Star: A hotel with 160 years of tradition at the entrance to the Zillertal offers everything for a relaxed holiday. The hotel was renovatid completely in 2009, offers cosy but modern rooms with all comforts. The traditional and international cuisine of the hotel is a pleasurable culinary experience so the halfboard dinner option is recommended!

 

Rate

EASY: Entirely made up fo flat paved cycle paths along the river, suitable for adults, beginner cyclists and children! On the ascent up to Achensee you may take the  cog railway.

 

Airport / Transfers We suggest flying into Munich or Salzburg, and departing from Vienna. We can supply rail transfers from Munich Airport to Passay for approx. $55.
