8 day Escorted tour

With the brandnew deluxe boat Princeza Lora and by electric bike or trekking bike, we discover the special charm of the Adriatic Sea: Countless islands in crystal clear water, deeply fissured cliffs, picturesque beaches and numerous small bays. That's the Kvarner Bay in the northern Adriatic. Every island is different. Each has its own history. We spend a week discovering the landscape and people of this unique island world by bike independently and with the aid of knowledgeable tour guides.

On all Deluxe Tours high quality E-bikes of the Swiss brand FLYER can be offered in unlimited number because a specially designed loading ramp makes the embarkation and disembarkation for the bikes less complicated. Electric bikes are a true declaration of independence for everybody who enjoys activity. They allow hassle-free cycling as well as climbing mountains without difficulty. But all cycle tours are planned in a way that enables also cyclists to ride a trekking bike - but wanting to spend their vacation on one of the deluxe boats - to join the bike rides trouble-free if they have a basic level of fitness.

DAY TO DAY ITINERARY
Day 1: Omisalj - Malinska - Krk (22 km)

day1

Individual arrival in Omišalj, a nice little harbor village on the island of Krk. The cabins on the motor yacht will be ready for you from 11 am. At about 1 pm the boat leaves and takes us to Malinska, the starting point of our first cycling tour that leads us to Krk town, the lively capital of the island, where we can join our tour guide on a stroll through the historic old town.

Day 2: The Island of Rab (17 + 25 km)

In the morning crossing from Krk town to Lopar on Rab Island. From there we cycle through the northern part of the island, which is green and rich in water to the Rab town - the fortified capital of the island, was built in the middle ages on a wedge shaped headland, and marks one of the highlights of the trip. The four famous bell towers are the symbol of the adorned beauty of the town. In the afternoon we may go for a second bike ride that leads us along the coast to the east side of the island, an area with virtually no vegetation, which’s rough and cliffy rocks remind us of a lunar landscape. On a guided evening walk we can explore the most interesting sights of Rab. Numerous cosy cafes invite us to enjoy a drink in the narrow alleys after dinner.

Day 3: The Island of Pag - Zadar (35 km)

day3

After a short cruise we reach the island of Pag. In the harsh but delightful landscape of the island we come across many fig and olive trees. Over the centuries the inhabitants have built numerous stone walls for protection against the wind. Starting from Lun we cycle first to Novalja and finally to Mandre, where the boat awaits us to take us to Zadar, which, for centuries, was the political, cultural and spiritual centre of Dalmatia. Our tour guide takes us on an extensive walk through the lively city centre. 3000 years of history have left their imprint on the character of this town and there are many things to be admired: the mighty fortified walls with their bastions, the loggia but also the early Romanesque St. Donatus Basilica.

Day 4: The Island of Dugi Otok (45 km)

During breakfast the ship leaves and takes us past many small islands to the "spice island" of Dugi Otok. The destination of our cruise is the worth-seeing nature park of Telašćica. In the peaceful atmosphere we go for a walk to Lake Mir and along the impressive cliffs of the island. Later on today’s bike tour starts and leads us along an almost traffic-free road offering many terrific views of the deep blue sea and the surrounding islands until we reach the bay of Božava. On our way we meet the ship for lunch in one of the picturesque fishing villages. Before we arrive at Božava there is also the chance to make a detour to the lighthouse of Veli Rat.

Day 5: The Island of Molat and Losinj (10 + 20 km)

day5

A short cycling tour in the morning leads us from Molat to Zapuntel where the boat already awaits us for the crossing to the island of Lošinj. From Mali Lošinj, an old seafaring and health resort with colorful houses, we cycle in the afternoon along the seaside walk we cycle to the south of Lošinj and visit the picturesque small harbor of Veli Lošinj which is dominated by the impressive church of Holy Anton. Afterwards we return to Mali Lošinj where the nice small music bar at the harbor invites us for spending an unforgettable evening.

Day 6: The Island of Losinj and Cres (45 km)

In the morning we bike along a panoramic route to a swing bridge that leads us over an already in Roman time built canal to the island of Cres. In the artist town of Osor – directly situated at the canal – we meet the boat for lunch. Before we cycle further to Martinšćica, we can go on a guided walk through Osor. From Martinšćica the boat takes us to Cres town. After dinner we can take part in a short guided tour through the Venetian old town of Cres.

Day 7: The Island of Krk (45 km)
day7

After a longer cruise in the morning to Malinska on Krk Island we cycle over the ridge of the island which is covered by fragrant macchia to a valley of vineyards and then onwards to the small museum town of Vrbnik in the northeast. The town built on a 165-feet-high (50m) cliff and surrounded by vineyards is the home of the famous white wine Žlahtina. Another peculiarity that Vrbnik has to offer is the second narrowest alley in the world. The way leads us across the island through old villages and rich vegetation to Omišalj. On our way we have a chance to swim in the bay of Soline. The last evening aboard takes place traditionally and includes the communal dinner and a last get-together in a cosy atmosphere with crew and tour guides.

Day 8: Journey home or extension of stay from Omisalj

After breakfast disembarkation until 9 am and individual trip home or extended stay in Croatia.

MODERATE TO HILLY:  This bike tour requires a basic level of fitness from participants, which they should have acquired from steady cycling. The cycling tours fit in equal measure to cyclists with trekking bikes or E-bikes.

The tours take you up to a height of between 200 and 500 m above sea-level. The daily tours from 20 to 45 km lead you through hilly and mountainous terrain and will be completed without any time-constraints. Participants also need to master long and steep climbs. Streets are mostly asphalted and less traffic occurs during the off seasons. You are free to set aside a half or full day to swim or spend on board the boat, instead of taking a planned bike-tour.

We will traverse mostly asphalted roads, which are rarely traveled on outside the holiday seasons. Each day you can either decide to bike alone, using the information and maps provided, or join the tour guides.

Helmet use is mandatory on all cycling tours. You are strongly encouraged to bring your own well-fitted helmet. Rental helmets are available on board in limited number (on request).
