The most famous bike tour in Europe, from Passau to Vienna along the beautiful Blue Danube. Discover a wonderful landscape of picturesque villages, rolling vineyards and be impressed by the uncountable sights of Vienna. The Austrian hospitality and cuisine will make this trip an unforgettable experience.

Independent arrival to Passau. Use any extra time for a walk through the picturesque old part of town, or take a boat cruise around this city of 3 rivers (not included).

The Upper Danube Valley with its steep and wooded slopes is almost untouched and idyllic. You cycle through the Upper Danube Valley to Schlögen. In Engelhartszell, you can visit the only Trappisten Monastery in Austria, where you can taste some liqueurs. You continue on through the impressive Danube loop, where the river makes an about turn of 180 degrees.

Day 3: Schlögener Loop / Surroundings - Linz (53 km)

There are small ferries between the riverbanks; enjoy this special experience. You cycle through the Eferinger basin to Linz, the upper Austrian capital. Enjoy the summer evening with a shopping tour in the charming old part of the town.

Tip: Make a side excursion to Enns, the oldest city of Austria. You cycle through the Celt village Mitterkirchen and the church in Baumgartenberg. In the afternoon you arrive at “Burg Clam”, one of the best preserved castles in the country. Your destination, Grein, is dominated by the picturesque castle of “Greinburg”.

You enjoy the Danube landscape of the Struden and Nibelungenau, with high rock formations on the left and right side of the Danube. High above the Danube stands the pilgrimage church of Maria Taferl. Clearly visible from a distance, the Benedictine Monastery Melk greets you.

Another highlight of this cycle tour is the beautiful landscape of the Wachau. You can find wine terraces, apricot trees, castles and monasteries between them. During your travel to Krems you cycle through the attractive vineyards of Spitz, Weissenkirchen and Dürnstein. Along the way you see cozy Taverns, where you can relax and enjoy the Austrian hospitality.

With the train you leave the unique cultural landscape of this UNESCO world heritance region. In Tulln you begin the last leg of your cycling tour. Don’t forget to visit the Monastery in Klosterneuburg before you reach Vienna !

Make sure to visit the famous „Naschmarkt“ and the beautiful castle Schönbrunn. Train ride back to Passau (included) or extend your stay in Vienna .

Alternatively we recommend a 3 day extension to the Slovakian Capital of Bratislava or a boat trip back to Passau.

EASY: Entirely made up of flat paved cycle paths along the river, so no traffic to contend with at all. Suitable for adults, beginner cyclists, families and children!

We suggest flying into Munich or Salzburg, and departing from Vienna.
