Nairobi's Loita Hills Safari Hiking ADVENTOUR From $1,575 CDN

Our walking safari is a way to discover the land and meet the people naturally and intimately. The Loita Hills trek starts by travelling from Nairobi across the Rift Valley to the Masai Mara Game Reserve in 4-wheel drive vehicles.
We spend a few days game viewing in this famous reserve where the succession of undulating plains and rivers lined with acacia trees is the habitat of an exceptionally rich wildlife population. From Mara we drive into the Loita Hills where we leave our vehicles to join our Masai team on foot. Packing donkeys with our luggage, food and equipment, we head into the hills where we hike through alternating forest and green grassy clearings.
This walking safari takes us for several days through dense forest with Colobus monkeys leaping through the canopy and past swamps inhabited by hippos. Our Masai guides alert us to the presence of buffaloes and antelopes as well as the inevitable lion paw prints on the riverbank. Walking to a dramatic waterfall and over open pastureland, we meet Masai herdsmen and warriors from nearby villages.
From the escarpment of the Rift Valley, we are rewarded with breathtaking views over the shallow soda lakes Magadi and Natron about one thousand metres below. A dramatic decent of the escarpment offers a sharp contrast in vegetation as we discover some unique and ancient plant species on our path. Vehicles await us for our return back to Nairobi.
